WHY SUFFER ALONE? 2025 CHALLENGE

Last year, sufferwithfriends raised over $15,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Over the last three years, we have raised over $80,000 for AFSP!

For the Why Suffer Alone? 2025 Challenge, we are continuing our efforts to spread mental health awareness, share peoples’ stories, and fundraise to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It is the nation's largest non-profit dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Specifically, AFSP focuses on: 

  • Funding scientific research

  • Educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention

  • Advocating for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention 

  • Supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide in their mission

ARE YOU READY TO SIGN UP?

 

WHEN IS IT?: August 15th-17th

WHAT IS IT?: It is ONE workout that is completed during that weekend to benefit AFSP. Please see workout options below.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?: Click HERE to donate! We consider this donation as your “registration” for the event. Suggested donation is $5.

WHAT IF I CAN’T DO THE WORKOUT?: Considering this is our final year, we want as many people involved. If you are unable to do the workout, we suggest to do something that makes you feel good mentally and physically. Maybe that’s running, walking, rucking, cycling, swimming, etc. And if you can, do it with a friend.

CAN MY GYM PARTICIPATE?: We would LOVE if your gym held our workout during that weekend. We’ve had several gyms participate each year. We suggest a $5 donation for every person that completes the workout to the AFSP donation page HERE before or after the workout. This year we have a new GYM/AFFILIATE KIT (linked above) that gym owners can use to promote the event and mental health awareness. Feel free to email sufferwithfriends@gmail.com with any questions.

All donations go directly to AFSP and are tax-deductible. You will receive a receipt from AFSP to keep for your tax records.

7 lateral burpees
200m run
7 thrusters
7 lateral burpees

Score: Total Time (estimated time around 20-25 mins)

Weight suggestions: 40/25 dbs, 75/55 barbell, any sandbag weight, or whatever weight you choose!
Run substitutes: 250m row, 15/11 cal bike

 

PARTNER

7 rounds
7 clean and jerk (each at the same time)
7 synchro burpee
200m run (together)
7 thrusters (each at the same time)
7 synchro burpee

Score: Total time

Weight suggestions: 40/25 dbs, 75/55 barbell, any sandbag weight, or whatever weight you choose!

Do I have to be “in shape” to do this workout?

This workout is for all fitness levels and we provide various options so that everyone can complete it!

In case you are unable to do the workout, we are also suggesting individuals move their bodies in whatever way is meaningful for them, whether that’s going for a walk, run, cycling, rowing, rucking, etc. And if they complete any of those options, donate $5 to our donation link.
